Newborns are best photographed around 10 days old, Rachel fills up very quickly, so be sure to get on the calendar during the middle to end of your pregnancy. Babies who arrive early will be worked into Rachel’s schedule before the 2 week mark as best as possible. All newborn sessions are done in Rachel’s downtown Indianapolis, natural light studio.
Maternity sessions are best done between 32-37 weeks, and babies photograph best at newborn, 9 months and 12 months.
If you have any questions, please contact Rachel and she will be more than happy to go over them with you!

FAQ:
What do you shoot with? Nikon D700 and I use my 50mm 1.4 G for all of my sessions, newborn and family. The only other lens I use is the 60mm 2.8 macro lens.
What do you pose baby on? A newborn nest. http://www.newbornnest.bigcartel.com/
Where do you get your blankets? Everywhere! Antique stores, grocery stores, home furnishing stores, etc.
How long have you been doing photography? Professionally since 2008.
Do you teach workshops? Yes! 2012 schedule here: http://rachelvanoven.com/blog/2012-indianapolis-workshops/
Do you do online mentoring? No, due to the first-person nature of watching a newborn being posed, I feel online mentorship at this point wouldn’t work! I do have a posing guide and an eWorkshop available for purchase, info here: http://rachelvanoven.com/blog/eworkshop/

Hi,
I was admiring your work and wondered if you would share what lens you use on those detail shots on your newborns. Thanks.
