I’m Rachel! In 2007, I was a stay at home mom who had a knack for using my Konica Minolta camera to take photos of my own babies. That hobby slowly bloomed into a small photography business and I took up my first ever client via Craigslist in the spring of 2008. Fifteen years later I’ve photographed thousands of newborns and families, and since 2010 I’ve been one of the photography industry’s leading educators, both in person at workshops and conferences — and online with the Rachel Vanoven Collective and other digital resources.
My photography studio is based in a tiny town nestled in the hills of Southern Indiana, but I have clients in multiple continents — from Europe to Australia to South America, traveling is one of the best parts of this career! When I’m not working, my husband Nick and I stay busy navigating parenting teenagers, juggling all the high school sports, and renovating our 120 year old Queen Anne Victorian!
I'm always cold, nearly always barefoot, passionate about newborn safety, oversized t-shirts and helping others. I hate cancer, working out and cucumbers (but pickles are cool).
